Puerto Rico - January 2025

For one week in January, I explored the rich landscapes and vibrant culture of Puerto Rico, capturing a mix of adventure, nature, and authentic local life.

We started our journey in the mountains of Orocovis, staying at a remote Airbnb tucked away from the tourist crowds. Surrounded by dense jungle and dramatic hillsides, we spent our first few days discovering hidden waterfalls, eating incredible local food, and taking in the slower pace of mountain life. We even visited a theme park that’s home to the world’s second-longest zip line, flying above the trees with panoramic views.

Midweek, we headed toward the coast, stopping in Old San Juan to explore its colorful streets, historic forts, and rugged coastlines. The colonial architecture, cobblestone alleys, and sweeping ocean views made for some of the most photogenic moments of the trip — especially from above with the drone.

Our second base for the trip was the laid-back beach town of Luquillo. From there, we set out on some of our biggest adventures. We hiked deep into El Yunque National Rainforest, tackling a steep, 4-hour trail that tested us physically but paid off with breathtaking views and raw, untouched jungle. We also went horseback riding, kayaked into a bioluminescent lagoon (sadly, poor weather kept the glow from shining through), and ended the week with a private boat ride to a nearby island for sunset and snorkeling over a reef.
